Changchub.com is a web-based service providing Buddhist Prayer.
The inspiration behind the services offered through this website is that of the quiet, beautifully-knowing, awakened bodhisattva. Thus inspired, the practice of offering a variety of Buddhist prayers to those who would like them is our heartfelt goal. It is common in many Buddhist cultures for individuals and groups to request prayers for specific conditions such as sickness, dying, and the transition of death. Alongside these profound existential events, prayers are also often requested to avert obstacles, to ensure the conditions of wealth, and as a form of accruing positive merit. In this manner the prayer that is performed is very much an instrument of the intention behind the person who requests it.

As the Dharma spreads and adapts to western countries where the tradition of sponsoring prayers is less developed, and tends to be less emphasized, we wish to preserve the roots of this dharma activity in the west. Practicing for others, as an aide to alleviating others' suffering, is at the core of Buddhist practice.

It is our intention at changchub.com to provide caring, thoughtful, facilitation of various requested prayers to engender the aspiration of awakening, the alleviation of suffering, and planting seeds of liberation for both the person requesting the prayer, as well as its recipient.

The logo used in this website is that of the drigug (a curved knife) above a kapala (human skull) filled with the nectar of non-referential bliss set on a lotus blossom. It is used as a reminder that awakening rests upon the delicate balance of cutting away ignorance in its many forms, thereby allowing the direct experience of things as they are in a fresh and open manner.
